Choosing a Financial Planner

Deciding which financial advisor to use is not a decision to be made lightly. We advocate being thoughtful and deliberate in your decision-making process. A good advisor will remain a trusted part of your personal planning team for the rest of your life. Here are a few resources to assist you in your vetting process.

Examine the background and complaint history of any registered advisor by using the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority's  Brokercheck feature. www.finra.org/brokercheck

Tap into a wealth of information about the financial planning process on the Financial Planning Association's website. www.fpaforfinancialplanning.org/

MSNMoney produced a great article that we feel makes a very good list of questions to ask of any prospective advisor. 8_Things_Your_Financial_Advisor_Won't_Tell_You
